Coach Ben Flannery served for 8 years in the Parachute Regiment where physical and mental fitness are essential. After years of ‘conventional’ fitness training within the military and during leave periods, he discovered CrossFit whilst on an exchange with the Australian Army in 2012. Since then Ben has qualified as a Level 1 trainer as well as completing several specialist training qualifications including CrossFit Endurance, CrossFit Mobility, CrossFit Kids and basic anatomy courses.
Ben has a Level 1 Weightlifting qualification in the Olympic Lifts from Catalyst Athletics, founded by Greg Everett, one of the world’s foremost experts on weightlifting. He has also received instruction in the use of CrossFit modalities for self-defence from Tony Blauer, founder of the S.P.E.A.R system of personal protection.
